Perinatal Health Stats for the US

In an AVERAGE week in the United States:
  79,584 babies are born
    Of those 79,584 babies:
      7,973 babies are born to teen mothers (ages 15-19)
      24,016 babies are delivered by cesarean section
      10,056 babies are born premature
      6,511 babies are born with low birth weight
      536 babies die before their first birthday
      In 2005, 12.7% of infants (522,913 babies) were born premature
      Between 1995 and 2005, the rate of infants born preterm in the United States increased more than 15%.
      In 2005, 8.2% of infants (338,565 babies) were born low birthweight
      Between 1995 and 2005, the rate of infannts born low birthweigth increased more than 12%.
      In 2004, The infant mortality rate was 6.8 per 1,000 live births (27,860 babies).
